Customers not only have to book to buy the products the bakery has to offer, but also might need to book in a delivery slot to receive it during their own working hours.  For some businesses that could realistically be an hour slot, but other times if the bakery has many deliveries in the area, and a route for the delivery vans, it might be a space of a few hours at different times of day.  So the type of slots available will be different for each baker.  If you have a big bakery, delivering to many hotels, cafes, other bakeries etc around a large area, your system of calendars, spreadsheets and collating and printing of picking notes, information, invoices, payments and so on can start to take up a great deal of time, and mistakes or omissions can creep into the duplication, leading to annoyed customers and delays for delivery drivers.

You can set up your bakery booking system with delivery slots, if you deliver different days to different areas, and  the consumer’s postcode will automatically allocate them to the correct day.  You can edit your categories, to show off attractive images of your cakes and pastries, and pies, bread, etc, pretty much as a supermarket would.  Bakers have full control over their ordering system at any time, so any delivery issues or omissions, shortages etc (say you are unable to make your usual Lemon Drizzle cakes because of a shortage of lemons) can automatically be notified to the consumer at time of the order, and alternatives suggested, so that they have time to make a substitute choice.  You may also like to add an automatic email update or text message, to announce that their delivery is on its way, with approximate time of arrival, complete with any last minute substitutions made before the cut-off time.
